The Challenge
A properly dimensioned footing needs at least four dimension lines: one to the nearest grid from the top, one to the nearest grid from the left, and two more just to show the footing's own overall width and length. Drawing all four by hand, for every footing on a structural plan, is slow, repetitive, and leaves plenty of room for a footing to slip through under-dimensioned.
Our Solution
Foundation Dimension works through every footing type you select, finds the nearest grid from the top and left faces, and creates both the grid-referenced dimensions and the footing's overall width and length dimensions in one pass. Grid dimensions and overall dimensions each use their own offset distance, so the result stays legible whatever the footing size, and any dimension that resolves to zero is removed automatically.
Type-by-Type Selection
Choose exactly which footing families to include from a checklist, so only the elements you want get dimensioned.
Grid-Referenced Top & Left Dimensions
Finds the nearest horizontal and vertical grids and dimensions each footing's top and left faces to them.
Automatic Overall Dimensions
Adds full width and length dimensions across the footing itself, capturing its overall footprint without extra steps.
Four Dimensions, One Pass
Generates the grid-referenced pair and the overall-size pair for every footing in a single run.
Independent Offset Controls
Set separate placement offsets for grid dimensions and overall dimensions, so layouts stay clean regardless of footing size.
Zero-Length Dimension Cleanup
Automatically removes any dimension that resolves to near zero, keeping the plan tidy.
